There is light at the end of the tunnel, says EU

The EU expresses confidence in Ireland’s future.

THE EUROPEAN UNION has confidence that Ireland will get over its economic problems, according to the Internal Markets Commissioner.

Michel Barnier told the Oireachtas European Affairs committee “I see light at the end of the tunnel”, reports RTÉ.

He said that exports and access to larger markets would help Ireland’s open economy to recover, and added that Europe needs a new, safer financial system for ordinary people – as well as small and large companies.

Barnier said that while Ireland was suffering the most, all of Europe was in crisis together.
