Thirteenth person arrested in connection with organised crime in South East

The man is the thirteenth person arrested in the operation.

A THIRTEENTH PERSON has been arrested in relation to an organised crime operation in the South East.

Twelve people were arrested yesterday, with a man in his 20s arrested this morning. He is currently being detained at Thurles Garda Station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.

Today, a futher three people, one woman and two men, all in their 20s, were released from custody without charge and files are being prepared.

There are now a total of six people in custody.

Gardaí believe the gang were involved in a number of burglaries.

During these burglaries a number of legally held firearms, and quantities of jewellery, cash, electronic goods and other valuable items were stolen.

The operation was coordinated by gardaí in Tipperary, Kilkenny and Waterford who searched 42 residential properties and seized items such as jewellery, cash and electronic goods, believed to be stolen.

As part of the lead up to the operation, a number of the gang members had their bank accounts frozen.
