Three men arrested in connection with suspected Drogheda arson

The fire left a woman in her 70s seriously injured.

GARDAÍ IN DROGHEDA investigating a suspicious fire at a house that seriously injured a woman in her 70s have arrested three men.

The three, two in their 30s and one in his 40s were arrested this evening in Drogheda and are being detained under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended at Drogheda Garda station.

At around 1am, gardaí and emergency services were called to a house fire at Cord Road, Drogheda.

It’s understood the woman was asleep in the house when the fire broke out. A man entered the house and managed to take the woman to safety.

The fire was brought under control and both the male and female were taken from the scene by Ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

The condition of the female is believed to be serious, while the injuries to the male are non life threatening.
