Tiny Dancer: HMV to honour Lily-Mae funds

The company will honour all invoices from sales of the single in its stores in Ireland.

Updated 8.35am Wednesday 23 Jan

THE FAMILY OF little Lily-Mae Morrison have said they are delighted that HMV has agreed to honour the invoices for a fundraising single for their daughter.

Over the past week the Morrisons had been waiting to hear what would happen to the funds raised from the sales of Tiny Dancer, a cover of the Elton John song in aid of the four-year-old, due to the store going into receivership.

The Irish Daily Mail’s Jennifer Bray reports that the family finally heard about the invoices being honoured following a campaign run by the paper.

The Claregalway child is suffering from stage-four Neuroblastoma, which is a rare childhood cancer of the nervous system. She is currently very sick in hospital.

Today, her parents Judith Sibley and Leighton Morrison said:

We are delighted that the Tiny Dancer invoices for HMV will be honoured. This money is very important for Lily-Mae’s future and for the future of all children suffering form Neuroblastoma, as half of it will go towards Neuroblastoma research. Right now our main focus is Lily-Mae, who is a very sick little girl. She and her bother Evan are the centre of our world and we would like to thank everyone for their continued support.

When news broke that the HMV closure could affect the money raised by the single, the track re-entered the top 30. Stephen Macken (the man behind the single), said this was a direct result of the situation, “and people’s goodwill”.

“It’s fantastic news to get – it’s just brilliant,” Macken told TheJournal.ie about today’s news.

The only news now that we want is that Lily-Mae is in remission.
