AS MANY AS 70 people have died and more than 90 are injured following a two-train crash in West Bengal in India in the early hours of this morning.

The crash, which occurred when speeding passenger express trains collided,  is being widely blamed on human error. However, some are contemplating other possible causes for the crash.

Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee said that sabotage could not be ruled out. Investigations into whether a bomb was placed on the train or if part of the track had been removed.

Two months ago, 145 people died in a derailment which was blamed on Maoist rebels.

At least four children are among the dead.

Indian officials investigate possible sabotage of train.
