France absolutely loves the Wild Atlantic Way

Nice.

THE WILD ATLANTIC Way has made the front cover of a French travel magazine with an estimated readership of 650,000.

The August edition of Grands Reportages features a lavish 40-page spread on sites along the 2,500 kilometre route, which stretches from Donegal’s Inishowen peninsula to Kinsale in Cork.

Journalist Jean-Marc Porte and photographer Céline Ravier travelled along the coastal route this spring to produce the feature.

Malin Head, Slieve League and the Giant’s Causeway are among the “untouched wonders” showcased

Welcoming the coverage, Tourism Ireland said France is one of the top four markets for tourism to Ireland.

The first half of this year saw an extra 28,700 French visitors travel to Ireland, according to the latest CSO figures, a growth of 13% compared to the same six-month period in 2014.

And the Wild Atlantic Way is at the centre of plans to increase overall tourist numbers over the coming months.

Fáilte Ireland even deployed a drone to film along the route earlier this year.

Words can’t do this scenery justice, so give yourself 90 seconds to enjoy it.
