Man killed in tree felling accident in Donegal

Another man has also been killed in a farm accident in Co Down.

A MAN HAS been killed in a tree-felling accident in Donegal.

The incident happened earlier this afternoon at around 2.30pm in the Meenadreen area.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene at around 3.30pm and was removed to the morgue at Letterkenny General Hospital.

The Health and Safety Authority, which is responsible for the inspection of workplace accidents, has confirmed to TheJournal.ie that an official was sent to the scene earlier today. 

An investigation is taking place.

This follows a separate incident on a farm in Co Down earlier today.

Police were alerted to the death of a man in his early 70s at around 5.30pm.

The incident is being investigated by the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland.

In a statement to the BBC, a spokesperson for the authority said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this most difficult time.”
