line closures

Taking the train this weekend? There are some major timetable changes

There’s a line closure in north Dublin – and revised schedules in and out of Heuston.

THERE ARE SOME big changes to the usual weekend schedules on the rail network today and tomorrow.

Irish Rail is advising customers to check timetables before travelling.

Here are the main points:

  • There’s a line closure between Connolly and Howth/Malahide for resignalling works today and tomorrow
  • There are revised schedules on all routes to/from Heuston today and tomorrow due to continuing line improvement works between Hazelhatch and Portlaoise

There are also normal bank holiday weekend alterations on all routes – particularly on Monday.

Here are the main points to remember for the Monday schedule:

  • DART and Commuter services will operate to a Sunday schedule with minor alterations
  • Intercity services will operate to revised schedules.
  • The 7.35am Connolly to Belfast Enterprise will include a bus transfer between Connolly and Drogheda

Resignalling

Northside DART, Commuter and Enterprise services will be disrupted by the resignalling works today and tomorrow.

Specifically:

  • There will be no DART services between Connolly and Howth/Malahide today or tomorrow. DART services will operate between Connolly and Bray/Greystones only. Dublin Bus will accept rail tickets on scheduled services between Howth/Malahide and the city centre
  • Dundalk/Drogheda services will operate to and from Malahide only with a bus transfer from Malahide to Connolly and Pearse
  • Belfast Enterprise services will operate as a bus transfer between Drogheda and Connolly Stations

According to the company:

The City Centre Resignalling project will allow frequency of train services to increase, including accommodating trains from the Kildare Commuter line via the Phoenix Park Tunnel later this year.
