Woman in her twenties arrested over shooting in Limerick car park

A man in his thirties had earlier been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody.

A WOMAN HAS been arrested in connection with the shooting of Christy Keane in a car park in Limerick.

The incident happened in the grounds of the University of Limerick on Monday morning. Keane was able to escape the scene on foot and was later taken to University Hospital Limerick.

After the incident gardaí discovered firearms in two cars that they searched.

The woman arrested, said to be in her mid-twenties, is currently being held at Rosxboro Road Garda Station.

She is being detained under the the Offences Against the State Act and can be held for up to 72 hours.

Earlier a man aged in his thirties was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody at Henry Street Garda Station.

The investigation is ongoing.
