Twenty to appear in court over Queen's Visit protests

21 people are arrested over a handful of demonstrations coinciding with the Queen’s visit to Dublin city centre this afternoon.

TWENTY PEOPLE ARRESTED over public order offences in Dublin city centre this afternoon, in connection with demonstrations against the visit of Queen Elizabeth, are appearing in court this evening.

All twenty are appearing at Cloverhill District Court in connection with at least three separate incidents, after protests took place at O’Connell Street, Moore Street, and the North Frederick Street-Dorset Street area.

A 21st person, who was also arrested, was released without charge having received an adult caution at Pearse Street Garda Station.

Dublin city was under an intense security clampdown, with only a handful of students from Trinity College able to meet the Queen during the first day of her visit.
