Twitter user inadvertently live-blogs deadly attack on Bin Laden

The IT consultant living in Abbottabad – the city where Osama bin Laden was killed – was initially annoyed by the noise of a helicopter hovering over his roof.

A MAN LIVING in Abbottabad in Pakistan has inadvertently live-blogged throughout the US attack that led to the death of Osama bin Laden.

Sohaib Athar, who describes himself on his Twitter profile as “an IT consultant taking a break from the rat-race by hiding in the mountains with his laptops”, began tweeting when he heard a helicopter over his house – a “rare” event in the city, he said.

Initially annoyed by the noise, Athar simply tweeted: “Go away helicopter – before I take out my giant swatter :-/”. Athar continued to tweet as events unfolded – until the realisation that one of the most-wanted men on the planet has been tracked down and killed nearby…
