Two brothers charged over Ger McMahon murder

Two brothers aged in their 20s have been charged with the murder of 43-year-old Ger McMahon in Limerick last week.

TWO BROTHERS HAVE been charged in connection with the murder of a man in Limerick last week.

Sean Flanaghan, 26, and Ian Flanaghan, 22, both of Lenihan Avenue in Limerick, appeared at the District Court in Limerick this afternoon in connection with McMahon’s death.

The men, both of who were granted free legal aid, were remanded in custody until next Tuesday – when a bail application for Ian Flanghan will be made, RTÉ reports.

A third man arrested who was also arrested was released without charge yesterday and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

McMahon, 43, was found seriously injured outside a house at Lenihan Avenue just after midnight on 18 January.

He had suffered multiple stab wounds and was taken to Mid-Western Regional Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
