Two men dead, and another seriously injured, in Sligo crash

The single-car accident occurred just off the Ballyfarnan to Sligo road last night.

TWO MEN HAVE DIED, with a third seriously injured, after a single-car road accident in Co Sligo last night.

The accident occurred when the car in which the men were travelling left the road at Roughan, outside Riverstown on the main road between Ballyfarnan and Sligo town.

The 22-year-old driver and his front-seat passenger, 20, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A rear seat passenger, aged 21, is seriously injured but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The two deceased were removed to the morgue at Sligo General Hospital. The third passenger is in a stable condition at the same hospital.

The road has been closed to facilitate a forensic examination and local traffic diversions are in place.
