Two men charged following €2.4m heroin seizure in Kildare

The drugs were seized in Kildare on Tuesday.

TWO MEN HAVE appeared in court this morning charged in connection with the seizure of heroin with an estimated street value of €2.4 million on Tuesday.

Brian Kavanagh, 26, from Wheatley Hall in Clonee, Co Meath and 28-year-old Peter Murray from Bellgree Heights in Tyrellstown, Co Dublin have been remanded on bail to appear again before Dublin District Court next month.

The pair were charged with possession of the drug and possession with intent to supply. They were ordered to surrender their passports and sign on three times a week at Blanchardstown Garda station.

Gardaí discovered 12 kilogrammes of drugs in a number of cars that were searched on the Naas Road in Kill, Co Kildare on Tuesday.

Four men were arrested at the scene but two were later released without charge.
