Two motorcyclists killed in Mayo and Kildare crashes

Gardaí investigating separate crashes which claimed the lives of two men last night.

TWO MALE MOTORCYCLISTS have died following separate crashes in Co Mayo and Co Kildare.

A 39-year-old man died after his motorbike collided with a wall on the Shore Road in Killala, Co Mayo, at around 8pm yesterday evening.

He was taken to Castlebar General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Gardaí say that no other person was involved in the crash. The road was closed to facilitate a forensic examination of the scene, but has since reopened.

Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is asked to contact gardaí in Ballina on 096 20560. The Garda Confidential Line is 1800 666 111.

Separately, a 43-year-old man was killed when his motorbike struck a wall on the Clane Road, Celbridge, Co Kildare, at around 3am today. A second man, a passenger, was injured but his injures are not thought to be serious.

The road is closed between Barberstown roundabout and St Wolstan’s School pending a garda forensic examination.

Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses to the single vehicle crash to contact them on 01 601 2370 or via the Garda Confidential Line (1800 666 111).
