Skoda updates its much-loved Superb and tempts buyers with low finance offer

A mid-life refresh for the popular saloon.

THE SKODA SUPERB is extremely popular here in Ireland. Last year 1,745 Superbs were sold and the car placed second in the saloon-car sales charts.

Even still, Skoda thinks it can improve its super saloon by giving it a mid-life refresh which includes safety, technology and trim updates as well as a tempting finance offer.

Let’s start with the safety updates. The updated Skoda Superb now features radar operated Lane Assist and Blind Spot Detection. Lane Assist keeps the Superb inside the lane by using active steering correction to adjust the car’s position if it comes too close to the lane marking. Blind Spot Detection works by illumiating an orange LED symbol on the wing mirror when another vehicle is in the Superb’s blind spot. If you flick on your indicator the symbol flashes to alert you that there is a vehicle in your blind spot.

In terms of trim updates, Style trim and Laurin & Klement trim receive a new 9.2 inch colour touch screen with Gesture Control for swiping between menus without having to touch the screen. Goodbye greasy fingerprints! Additionally, wireless charging is now provided as standard.

A price increase of €250 sees the Superb SportLine model get a panoramic sunroof and 19-inch Vega alloy wheels as standard.

Mechanical updates include a new seven-speed DSG automatic transmission offered across the range which replaces the six-speed version of the previous model.

As for finance, Skoda Ireland is offering the Superb with zero per cent PCP finance until the end of February.
