A US-BASED ENVIRONMENTAL contractor has announced that it will set up an international headquarters in Carlow, with the creation of 30 jobs.
Intergeo Services, based in Pennsyvania, is an engineering firm which designs and builds materials including solar panels and ‘geotextiles’. The jobs in civil engineering, quantity surveying and support roles will be created over the next three years.
The firm’s decision to locate its headquarters for Europe, the Middle East and Africa in Ireland was hailed today as the first success for the Succeed In Ireland initiative, which was launched in March with the aim of attracting international investment.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny said:
I am confident that this will be the first of many jobs announcements as a result of this innovative programme which demonstrates yet again Ireland’s attractiveness as a location for investment and jobs.
Jobs minister Richard Bruton also welcomed the news, saying: “Today’s announcement by a small, innovative international company in a regional location, is evidence of the great potential of the initiative.”
Archie Filshill, the CEO of Intergeo Services, said Ireland had “all of the necessary components” for the company’s international HQ, including “access to markets, a skilled workforce and a pro-business environment.”
