Last year's wild Valentine's Day Late Late Show is back for more madness

The show prompted some complaints but was a ratings winner.

THE LATE LATE Show Valentine’s Day special that led to some complaints and “negative feedback” last year is coming back for another go.

Last year’s special featured an audience full of single men and women with controversial commentator Katie Hopkins at one point launching herself into the arms of an audience member.

Hopkins was also seemingly propositioned by a man in the audience and the wild atmosphere led to questions about how much alcohol was provided to the crowd and guests.

A spokesperson for the show had denied that the audience were given more alcohol than usual.

Former Irish rugby player Ronan O’Gara also featured on the episode and later apologised for a jokey comment he made about “getting up on Jessica” (his wife).

The national broadcaster said at the time that they received a small number of formal complaints following the show as well as 90 people getting in touch with “negative feedback”.

Despite the ruckus, The Late Late Show have confirmed that they will be having a Valentine’s Day special this year and will again be filling the audience full of singletons.

The show’s producers say that they are looking for male and female audience members who are “looking for some fresh romance in their lives” and “who are not camera shy”.

Applicants looking to be in the audience will have to fill out a questionnaire about their love life.

The 2015 show pulled in 573,000 viewers and presenter Ryan Tubridy says he’s hoping the “palpable excitement in the studio” will be repeated this year.

The show will be broadcast on Friday 12 February.
