VIDEO: 40,000 people sing Anders Behring Breivik's most-hated song

Breivik told his trial that the song ‘Children of the Rainbow’ was an effort to brainwash kids. Oslo responded by singing it.

AROUND 40,000 PEOPLE convened in Oslo earlier today – to have an open-air performance of a song loathed by Anders Behring Breivik.

Breivik had told his trial in Oslo that Lillebjørn Nilsen – the songwriter who composed the song ‘Barn av regnbuen’ (‘Children of the Rainbow’) – was “a Marxist trying to infiltrate culture”.

He argued that the true meaning of the popular song’s title was actually a reference to brainwashing children.

Tens of thosuands poured into Oslo’s Youngstorget square – many carrying roses to honour Breivik’s victims – to sing the song as an act of defiance, in a performance led by Nilsen himself as the clock struck noon.
VG.no said similar performances of the song were held in 15 other cities around Norway, with another performance in Iceland.

The performances, all arranged through Facebook, hoped to illustrate that Breivik was alone in his viewpoints.
