Video shows terrifying scenes inside airplane forced to make emergency landing

Passengers can be heard screaming and praying.

A VIDEO TAKEN by a passenger shows the chaotic scenes inside an airplane forced to make an emergency landing due to extreme turbulence.

The American Airlines flight carrying 240 passengers and 15 crew was flying from Seoul in South Korea to Texas in the United States when it hit a storm with strong winds on Tuesday night.

Between 12 and 15 people sustained minor injuries as passengers were thrown from their seats and trolleys and other items which were not tied down moved around the cabin.

The plane was forced to divert to Japan’s Narita airport near Tokyo.

In a video taken by a passenger identified only as ‘John’ on his YouTube channel, passengers can be heard screaming and praying as the turbulence hits.

“We were eating and all the food just flew up in the air and pretty much bounced off and fell,” one passenger told TV Tokyo. “There were carts all over the place”.

In a statement, American Airlines said that five people – four passengers and one crew member – were taken to hospital afterwards, while around nine other people sustained minor injuries which did not require hospitalisation.

The flight was expected to continue to the United States today.
