Fifth arrest over violent death at Finglas house party

Ggardaí are investigating whether Vincent Maher was attacked at the address in the course of the party.

Updated 7.45pm

GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING THE death of 29-year-old Vincent Maher at a house party in Finglas last weekend have made a fifth arrest in connection with the case.

A 23-year-old woman was detained this afternoon, and has been taken for questioning to Finglas Garda Station.

Another woman, also in her 20s, arrested on Friday has been released from custody, with a file to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Three young men have also been questioned in connection with the case — two were detained and released without charge last weekend, while a third man was arrested for questioning on Monday night.

The victim’s body was found at his apartment on Wellmount Road in the north Dublin suburb last Saturday morning. A post mortem showed he had died violently, and gardaí are investigating whether he was attacked at the address in the course of the party.

Gardaí have appealed for information from anyone who may have been at the party or from taxi drivers who may have collected or dropped off passengers in the area.
