Cavan courthouse cleared as bomb squad inspects suspect device

Virginia Main Street was closed for several hours after the morning alert.

THE ARMY BOMB disposal team was deployed to a Cavan courthouse this morning following the discovery of a suspect device.

The Virginia Courthouse was evacuated after the object was found shortly after 10am.

Gardaí sealed off the scene and closed the main street of the town.

The operation is still ongoing but the road has now reopened.
