Warning over unofficial driving test websites

The Road Safety Authority has warned learner drivers not to use unofficial websites – which often charge a fee and take personal information – when booking their theory or driving tests.

LEARNER DRIVERS ARE being warned to steer clear of unofficial websites when booking their driving theory test or driving test.

The warning comes from the Road Safety Authority, which says it is concerned about the fact these unofficial sites often charge for their services and also sometimes gather personal information such as PPS numbers.

It says that these sites are based both in Ireland and the UK.

The RSA is also warning learner drivers of the dangers of passing on their personal details, such as PPS and driver number to these sites.

While such information is required to book a test, it should only be provided when booking a theory test and driving test on the official RSA Driving Test application website at www.rsa.ie and official driver theory test website at www.theorytest.ie

The RSA has raised its concerns about these unofficial sites gathering such personal data to both the Data Protection Commissioner and National Consumer Agency.

It has also contacted the sites in question to state its concerns.

If you would like to do a driving theory test, the official site is www.theorytest.ie, or to book a driving test, the official site is at www.drivingtest.ie
