WATCH: Helicopter rescues four-year-old boy from Washington mudslide

The death toll today reached 25, with over 90 more people missing.

A YOUNG BOY that was trapped following the mudslide in Washington in the US has been airlifted to safety.

This video by ITN shows the four-year-old boy trapped in the mud and debris.

A helicopter hovered over head, as one of the emergency rescue team climbed out of the helicopter on to the unstable ground to get the boy and bring him to safety.

The death toll today reached 25, with over 90 more people missing.

The rescue  has offered a glimmer of hope to those waiting to hear news of loved ones.

However, community members gathered yesterday evening for a prayer vigil for the missing, as the search enters its sixth day.
