WATERFORD RAILWAY STATION has reopened for train services after being closed for almost a week after a landslide.
Plunkett station had remained closed since the evening of 31 December to allow for the removal of rubble from the landslide as well as the remaining loose rocks from the rockface.
The station area also experienced flooding during storm and high tide conditions of recent days delaying the efforts being made to reopen it.
But a number of platforms in the station will remain closed as Irish Rail continue assessment and recovery work. This work is expected to last for approximately two weeks.
The first train to operate into the station today was the 15.10hrs Dublin to Waterford service with all passenger trains resuming services thereafter.
Nobody was injured in the rockfall incident.
