Here's what the weather looks like for this bank holiday weekend

It’s going to be meh.

THE MOST WE can hope for from an October bank holiday weekend is a couple of reasonably sunny spells and for the rain to stay away, so don’t get your hopes up for the days ahead.

We’re going to be stuck in a back and forth of changeable weather, according to Met Éireann.

A yellow warning in place for counties in the west was lifted this morning after heavy rain overnight, which cleared to a reasonably bright day in some parts of the country.

Top temperatures will reach as high as 13 degrees.

However, the showers are due to return later this evening, clearing overnight to a bright day on Sunday, which will then turn cloudy and bring scattered patches of mist and drizzle.

By the evening this will have turned to heavy rain in the southwest.

Monday is due to be a windy day with rain persisting (possibly not in the east, Met Éireann said), right through to Tuesday.
