THE WEATHER HAS left many areas across the country covered in snow … but you can’t say we didn’t warn you.
Met Éireann issued five weather warnings yesterday – a status orange snow-ice warning and a wind alert along with three yellow warnings.
Two of those expired at 9 o’clock this morning, one will end at 11pm tonight and two have been extended until 12 midday tomorrow.
Met Eireann told TheJournal.ie that the warnings are “constantly under review and could change at any time” following reports that the top warning – a red alert – could be issued.
Driving conditions are said to be treacherous in many parts of the country.
AA Roadwatch is warning motorists in most counties to expect problems.
It says Barnesmore Gap, Ballyshannon and outside Letterkenny in Donegal is particularly bad.
It’s also advising caution around Fermoy in Cork, Nenagh, Roscrea and Thurles in Tipperary and Mullingar in Westmeath.

Passengers are advised to check with their service provider for details.
However, the weather conditions are expected to change dramatically later today – with heavy rain and high winds of up to 130 kilometres an hour forecast.
