Week in Web

Weird Wide Web: Spying on your pet, a graphic surgery app and why is Arwen dying?

All of your essential tech and social media news for the week in one byte-sized portion.

WELCOME TO THE Weird Wide Web – where we take a look at the week’s best offerings in tech and social media news.

Google autocomplete cartoon of the week

Why are Americans afraid of dragons? Why is Arwen dying? And why is there an owl outside my bedroom window? We’ve all had a giggle about some of the Google autocomplete options that show up but this week webcomic xkcd put together this rather disturbing cartoon of some of the strangest ones. We may or may not have Googled lots of these to find out the answers. Go wild.

Multi-touch surface creator of the week

Any flat surface can be transformed into a 3D multi-touch surface with this little gadget which has received support from backers on Kickstarter. Use it to play games, draw pictures or just add a bit of variety to your day by making your hands into your mouse.

Pet communication tool of the week

We’re animal-lovers here, so we recognise the value of this invention even if the skeptics among you might thing it a little over the top. We also imagine it might totally freak out some poor pups.

DOUBLE THE FUN.

A**ehole cat game of the week

Not to keep harping on about pets, but you know those absolute a**ehole cats you’ve seen on YouTube? Well now you can be one of them, thanks to this game… (via Buzzfeed)

Too graphic for us app of the week

We’re not sure why someone made this app, but they have. Virtual Knee Surgery does exactly what it says on the tin, letting you take all the steps of a regular knee surgery. It gives us the heebee jeebees but if you’re into it, you might also like Heart Surgery.
