Coronation St actor William Roache to face another five charges

The 81-year-old has been charged with five charges of indecent assault, alleged to have occurred between 1965 and 1968.

WELL-KNOWN CORONATION STREET actor William Roache has this evening been charged with five counts of indecent assault.

The 81-year-old was arrested by appointment this morning and has been bailed to appear in court in Preston on Friday.

The charges are alleged to have been committed in the Manchester area between 1962 and 1965, involving four girls who were aged between 12 and 15 at the time.

Last month Roache was arrested and charged with two offences of rape, allegedly involving a girl who would have been 15 years old at the time.

Those offences are alleged to have occurred between April and July of 1967.

Roache has pleaded not guilty to those offences and will appear in court in connection to them next Monday, June 10.

The alleged victim in the rape charges is not one of the victims connected to the latest allegations.

Producers of Coronation Street have said Roache’s character, Ken Barlow, will be written out of the show until any criminal charges against Roache have been dealt with.
