A WIND WARNING has been issued by Met Éireann, warning people that winds will reach up to 110 km/h tonight.

The countrywide warning comes into effect at 9pm tonight and will stay in place until 9am tomorrow.

Fishermen and sailors are already subject to an orange alert as gales on the Irish Sea hit storm force this morning on coasts between Erris Head and Fair Head.

As for the rest of today’s weather, Met Éireann says that scattered showers will become more frequent in the west early this morning.

Those showers will then become persistent rain.

Wind

Temperatures will reach 10 or 11 degrees today and southwest winds will be “fresh to strong and from the southwest”.

Tonight will see gale-force winds and temperatures dipping to six or seven degrees.
