Ah here

Incoming: Met Éireann has just issued a wind warning for the west...

So much for July.

SO MUCH FOR the summer…

Met Éireann has issued a wind warning for western and north-western counties.

West to southwest winds of 45 to 65km can be expected, with gusts of 90 to 110km.

It applies from midnight tonight until 9pm tomorrow – and the following counties are affected:

  • Donegal
  • Galway
  • Leitrim
  • Mayo
  • Sligo
  • Clare

And – just in case you think the rest of the country might escape unscathed, here’s the forecast for tomorrow:

Friday will start mainly dry with sunshine in eastern areas, but showers in the west will become widespread through the day.

On the whole, it will be “a very windy day, with strong and gusty west to southwest winds”.

Weekend-wise, Saturday will be moderately breezy and showery with some sunny spells. Sunday will be wet for most of the morning and afternoon – although it should clear later.

So.

As you were, Ireland.

Put the suncream away.
