34-year-old woman killed in two-car Monaghan collision

Another four people – including two children – are injured, though not seriously.

A 34-YEAR-OLD WOMAN has died following a road traffic accident outside Carrickmacross.

The accident occurred at 5pm yesterday evening on the main Carrickmacross to Castleblayney Road, at Turryvaragh Lower.

The 34-year-old, the driver of one of the cars, was fatally injured.

Her three passengers – a 62-year-old woman, a boy aged 8 and a girl aged 5 – were also injured, though none of them seriously.

The driver of the other car, who was its only occupant, was also injured.

All four of the injured parties were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment.

Witnesses are asked to contact the Gardaí in Carrickmacross at (042) 9690190, the Garda Confidential line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
