Woman arrested following seizure of heroin and cannabis worth €13,000

The 29-year-old was arrested at the scene of the planned search.

A 29-YEAR-old woman has been arrested in the Portarlington area following the seizure of heroin and cannabis worth over €13,000.

As part of an operation targeting the illegal sale and supply of diamorphine – heroin – in the Portarlington area, members of the District Detective Unit assisted by local gardaí, the Regional Support Unit and the Garda Dog Unit seized heroin worth over €8,000 and cannabis herb worth over €5,000.

The seizure was made following a planned search of a premises in Kilnacourt Woods, Portarlington, County Laois this morning at approximately 9.30am.

The woman was arrested at scene and is currently detained at Tullamore Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
