Woman attacked in Dublin overnight

A man in his 40s was arrested following the incident.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING an assault that took place on a young woman in Dublin overnight.

The woman, aged 22-years-old, was attacked by a man from behind and was punched in the face.

Escape

The woman is believed to have screamed for help and managed to fight off the man and escape. The man fled the scene on foot.

The incident happened at approximately 12.30am in Dublin 6 area.

Following the incident, a man in his late 40s was arrested and is currently being held at Terenure Garda Station.

The gardaí confirmed that the woman was taken to hospital following the attack, but her injuries are not believed to be too serious.

Garda investigations are ongoing.
