Woman killed in Kerry motorbike crash

She is the ninth motorcyclist to die on Irish roads so far in 2013.

DESPITE NATIONAL EFFORTS by gardaí, it has been a bad long weekend on Irish roads so far.

Yesterday afternoon, a woman in her 50s became the fourth victim of collisions since Friday morning.

The motorcyclist was fatally injured when her bike left the road at Lissvieen in Killarney at about 4.50pm. She becomes the 79th person and ninth motorcyclist to die on Irish roads this year.

The road was closed for some time to facilitate technical and forensic exams. Witnesses have been asked to contact the local garda station.

A man in his 30s died in a separate road crash in Kerry on Friday evening, while two people were killed in a serious collision in Kildare.
