Woman left her mother's corpse unburied for six months

Hazel Maddock was jailed for 11 months at a court in Merseyside this morning after she left her mother’s corpse in a bedroom for as long as seven months.

A WOMAN HAS been jailed for 11 months after she admitted to failing to bury her dead mother whose corpse lay in a bed in the house they once shared together for seven months.

Olive Maddock, 95, died of natural causes but her daughter Hazel Maddock, 61, and her granddaughter Jasmine, 35, failed to organise her funeral and left the corpse unburied at their house in Wallasey in Wirral for as long as seven months, according  to Click Liverpool.

Officers were horrified when they visited the filthy, semi-detached property in Wallasey last August and discovered the remains.

BBC News reports that Hazel Maddock admitted to unlawful prevention of burial and benefit fraud and was jailed for 11 months whilst her daughter Jasmine received a suspended sentence and 250 hours of community service at Liverpool Crown Court this morning.

The daughter, a former extra in Channel 4 programmes Brookside and Hollyoaks, also admitted to cashing her dead mother’s state pension from 6 July to 7 August.
