YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK in California has released this incredible time lapse video of the Rim Fire that has been causing havoc in the area over the last few days.

The video shows images from various difference perspectives as viewed from the park. The second half of it also shows the Yosemite Valley and how little the smoke from the fire has actually impacted on it.

Yosemite National Park said that the fire is currently burning in wilderness and is not immediately threatening visitors or employees.

Crews have made significant progress in building containment lines around the giant wildfire, with officals saying today that they would maintain use of a National Guard Predator drone to give them early views of any new flare-ups.

Containment is now at 30 per cent and fire officials are saying they expect to fully surround the blaze in three weeks, though it will burn for much longer than that.
