1.#CRIME: A man has been shot dead in Ballyfermot in Dublin today. Gardaí said that the shooting happened just before 3pm this afternoon at a house on Cloverhill Road.

2. #JILL MEAGHER: Adrian Ernest Bayley will go before the courts for the alleged rape and murder of Jill Meagher next year it was confirmed today. The 41-year-old will face a committal hearing on 18 January following the discovery of the Irishwoman’s body in a shallow grave about 55 kilometres from where she went missing in Melbourne last Saturday.

3. #SORRY: As the iPhone 5 went on sale in Ireland today, the company behind the phone has apologised for the mistakes in its recently launched maps service. CEO Tim Cook suggested that while the company improves the service, iPhone users can instead use other map apps or add Google Maps to their home screen.

4. #TRANSPORT: Balbriggan train station in north Dublin has been without a working lift for over three months, it has emerged. The Irish Wheelchair Association described the development as “unacceptable” but Irish Rail has said that the lifts are due to reopen this evening.

5. #BOTTOMLESS: More pictures of Kate Middleton nude have been published in the media with a Danish magazine Se Og Hor publishing snaps of the Duchess of Cambridge without her bikini bottoms. Earlier the Palace said it would not be complaining to the British press watchdog, the PCC, over naked photos of Prince Harry that were published recently.
