1. #WEST BANK: Israel has claimed nearly 1,000 acres of Palestinian land in the West Bank, in what is understood to be the biggest such seizure in decades.

2. #CEASEFIRE: Russian President Vladimir Putin has called for a “political solution” to the crisis in eastern Ukraine, while Russia’s foreign minister has called for an ”immediate ceasefire”.

3. #IRISH POVERTY: One third of the Irish population are forced to go without basic necessities.

4. #PARIS: The death toll in the Paris building explosion has risen to six people, including a young boy, aged 8. 

5. #JIHADI WATCHLIST: The Irish Independent reports that there is a joint watch list on suspect jihadi fighters being operated by both the Irish and British authorities.

6.#TRIBUTES: The RTÉ Symphony Orchestra has released a statement paying tribute to muscian John Lynch, who drowned with his partner Kevin Devine, in Crete last week.

7. #EMIGRATION: One fifth of GPs who graduated in 2010 are now living abroad.

8. #COMPANIES: While there was an increase in the number of start-ups opening their doors in the last month, there was also an increase in the number of insolvencies.

9. #TURF: Your TV could be running on turf. It really is a possibility with 6% of the nation’s power still being drawn from peat burning power stations.
