A WOMAN IS in a serious condition in hospital following a gas explosion at her home in Ringsend last night.

Gardaí at Irishtown confirmed that the 92-year-old woman sustained burns to her face and body and was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital following the gas explosion that took place at 10.36pm.

Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene last night, however it is believed that the explosion was not caused by a gas leak.

Initial investigations by Bord Gáis suggest that the gas explosion was caused by human error.

This morning, the woman’s condition was updated as serious.
