Aer Lingus cancels Cork-Brussels service

A spokesperson for Cork Airport said that it proved difficult to make the service a viable, sustainable route.

AER LINGUS IS cancelling its Cork-Brussels service this winter.

The service operated twice per week last winter but won’t run from October 27.

As a result of the Brussels flight not operating – there is a schedule change for the Munich service as the aircrafts were linked.

The Cork to Munich service will be reduced from two flights per week to one – from December to March.

Head of Communications at Cork Airport, Kevin Cullinane, told TheJournal.ie that it has proven difficult to make the Cork-Brussels service a viable, sustainable route “despite benefiting from our New Route Incentive Scheme, generous marketing support and promotional support from ourselves, Tourism Ireland, Visit Brussels, the Cork Convention Bureau, Cork Chamber, among others.”

Many have expressed their disappointment on social media:

Cullinane added that the Aer Lingus Regional continues to grow at Cork Airport, “last winter season it had 199,584 seats available, so we expect to surpass 200,000 this year.”
