Air France pilot strike causes flight cancellation for Irish fans heading to Paris tomorrow

The airline is warning that there may be more last-minute cancellations and delays.

AN AIR FRANCE flight from Dublin to France has been cancelled tomorrow, leaving some Irish football fans with no flight to get to Euro 2016.

The cancellation is due to an internal conflict within the airline which has caused Air France pilots to go on strike.

The Air France website states that flight AF 1617 leaving Dublin at 9.10am and arriving at Charles de Gaulle at 2.45pm has been cancelled.

In a statement Air France confirmed that around 30% of its medium-haul flights to and from Paris have been affected for today and tomorrow.

It also warns that there may be last-minute cancellations and delays.

There were originally five Air France flights due to go from Dublin to Paris tomorrow, as it stands there are now four remaining.

Kevin Shanley was one of those affected, he told TheJournal.ie,

Our accommodation was €150 and the tickets were €150 each. We got no offer of rerouting, just an apology for the inconvenience – less than 24 hours before we were due to fly.

Others have taken to Twitter to express their anger:

The statement from Air France adds, “For the following day, depending on the estimated number of pilots taking strike action, the flight schedule will be adapted and published the day before, and customers will be informed accordingly.”

The airline says it is offering its customers who are booked on a flight between 11 and 14 June the possibility of changing their trip whether their flight is cancelled or not.

It added that for customers whose flight is cancelled, their ticket will be fully refunded.
