Al-Qaeda publication offers tips for targeting Americans

THE SECOND EDITION OF A YEMENI magazine linked to al-Qaeda has appeared online, with tips on how to target American citizens.

Inspire magazine is believed to be produced by a group of Saudi Arabian and Yemeni fighters known as Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP).

The BBC reports that the group formed in 2009 under the leadership of one of Osama Bin Laden’s former aides.

Al Jazeera reports that the magazine first appeared in July to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the bombing of the naval ship the USS Cole as it refuelled in Yemen. That issue included articles with titles such as “Make a Bomb in the Kitchen of Your Mom”.

The latest edition suggests using a truck driven at high speed to mow people down. Its introduction concludes: “You haven’t seen anything yet”.

It includes articles penned by US-born Anwar al-Awlaki, who is on the US government’s kill or capture list.
