FORMER TAOISEACH Albert Reynolds passed away in August of this year.

By the end of his political career, the Longford Slasher was known not only as a risk-taking and smart businessman but also a peace maker.

While remembering his life, our photographers searched through their archive and Photocall’s Eamonn Farrell found this gem.

However, at the time of this snap, he hadn’t quite made it to the top echelon in Fianna Fáil and was serving as the Minister for Finance.

During the 1989 television awards, pictured here, Zig and Zag called him Burt Reynolds and ‘your majesty’.
