Gross’s family had already held a private funeral for the teen.

Alice Gross (14) went missing in August. After extensive searches and a massive media appeal, including a reconstruction of her last known movements, her body was found five weeks after CCTV footage showed her walking along a towpath.

Her family said that they were devastated at the discovery, and thanked all those who helped in the search for Alice.

Alice was a loving and much loved daughter and sister, a quirky live spark of a girl, beautiful inside and out. She was a funny companion, a loyal friend, both passionate and compassionate, and so talented with a bright future ahead of her.

Alice was a talented singer and musician, and video of her performing was shown at the memorial. Some of her school teachers also performed, to mark her dedication to her craft.

The body of the main suspect in Gross’s murder, Arnis Zalkalns (41), was found just days after Alice’s body was located.

Zalkalns had served eight years in prison in his native Latvia for stabbing his wife and burying her in a forest.
