INTERNATIONAL COFFEE GIANT Starbucks is to open a new café at the former headquarters of Anglo Irish Bank on Dublin’s Stephen’s Green.

Planning permission for the change of use was granted by Dublin City Council back in July.

The application, on behalf of Tom Philips & Associates, proposed a that part of the building be converted “from banking use to coffee shop, with associated internal works and external signage”.

The development includes installation of a counter and serving area and of standard coffee shop fittings such as tables and chairs and beverage making and serving equipment at the ground floor level and the erection of associated external signage on the front facade.

Permission was granted on 10 July, with the stipulation that the new occupants operate within certain conditions, including opening times limited to between 7am and midnight.

The infamous ‘Anglo’ sign and logo were removed from the building in 2011, as the institution was renamed the IBRC.
