Animal carcasses dumped on grounds of Catholic church in Co Tyrone

The caracasses were discovered by a local priest in the church car park.

A LOCAL PRIEST has described his “disgust” after animal carcasses were dumped outside a church in Co Tyrone yesterday.

The incident occurred at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Caledon.

Video footage shared on social media by parish priest Father Cathal Devaney shows what appears to be the internal organs of multiple animals placed along a wall at the entrance to the church car park.

Fr Devaney, from the parish of Aghaloo and Carnteel, condemned the incident.

“It is a criminal act, perhaps even a hate-filled act,” Fr Devaney said.

“Whoever did it, well pray for them, because they need serious help, possibly even for them to be caught and brought to justice.”

Colm Gildernew, Sinn Féin MLA for South Tyrone, condemned the incident as an “abhorrent and criminal act on our parish”.

“There is absolutely no place in our society for this behaviour. Whoever is behind this sickening act must be brought to justice,” Gildernew said.

He called on anyone with information to contact the PSNI.

In a statement, police said that they had received a report of “dumped animal remains” at the church, and they are currently investigating the incident.
