Man questioned over Aoife Phelan murder released without charge

The man in his mid-20s was released overnight as searches continue for the missing Laois woman.

A MAN ARRESTED in connection with the murder of missing pregnant woman Aoife Phelan has been released without charge overnight.

The man in his 20s had been questioned at Portlaoise Garda Station in connection with the murder of Laois woman Aoife who has not been seen since 25 October.

He was released without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Gardaí say that investigations are continuing and searches in Co Laois are expected to continue today.

Yesterday the search focused on a number of locations, including the River Barrow beneath the M7 motorway by Ballybrittas and land near a house on the Timahoe Road.
