APPLE HAS NO plans to release its first smartwatch, Apple Watch, until February 2015 at the earliest.
A report from The Information says the company would have been “lucky to ship it by Valentine’s Day,” according to a source close to Apple.
When it unveiled the smartwatch at the beginning of the month, Apple didn’t give a specific date, saying it would arrive early 2015. Originally, it was planned that Apple Watch would go on sale in time for the Christmas season, but software development difficulties meant it had to postpone it.
There will be three different versions of the smartwatch: the standard Apple Watch, Apple Sport Watch and the luxury Apple Watch Edition. Each watch will be available in two sizes – 38mm and 42mm.
The touchscreen display can tell the difference between a tap and a press, the latter called Force Touch, which will act as an alternative button press.
The device comes with Siri as well as Maps and Photos, and instead of a keyboard, the watch offers preselected answers for any messages you might receive.

So far, only a price tag has been given for the US, where it will cost $349 (€275).
