TWO MEN WHO were arrested in Northern Ireland as part of the investigation into the abduction and murder of Jean McConville have been released “unconditionally”.

McConville, a widow and mother of 10 children, was abducted in December 1972 from her flat in the Divis area of west Belfast and shot by the IRA.

Her body was recovered on a Co Louth beach in August 2003.

Detectives this morning arrested a 63-year-old man in the Forkhill area of south Armagh and a 64-year-old man in Co Antrim. This afternoon, the PSNI said that the two men had been released without charge nor conditions attached.

It brings to 11 the number of people arrested as part of the investigation.
